Advanced automotive applications require a comprehensive communication system, providing speed, flexibility and scalability for complex networks at low cost. Electronically controlled functions in vehicles, such as the electronic stability program, are becoming more and more powerful. In order to manage the increasing network load of control units in cross-linked electronic devices, FlexRay-based solutions are now introduced in the commercial production of luxury class vehicles. TTTech Automotive’s solutions are deployed for the optimization of data communication in the new generation of the Audi A8 and other models of the Volkswagen Group.
FlexRay is designed to satisfy advanced automotive requirements. With a gross data rate of 10 Mbit/s, FlexRay provides automotive control applications with approximately 20 times higher net bandwidth than the currently used CAN protocol. High-volume automotive applications facilitate design and cost efficiencies with a wide choice of system-on-chip components.
Solutions for FlexRay in production
Using a new technology such as FlexRay in commercial production requires appropriate validation and optimization. The validation of FlexRay systems in fleet testing and their reliability prior to start of production are key priorities for the automotive industry. FlexRay also requires new embedded software components which need to be implemented, integrated and tested. TTTech Automotive’s FlexRay-based product range comprises tools for implementation, analyzing and testing, hardware and software based on AUTOSAR standard. In addition, we offer on-site project support meeting the cost and quality requirements of the industry.
